Meta Sucks

My decision for my studio page per Meta updates in terms of service. (Copied from FB)

This is another long one sorry but it's necessary. (Summery at the end )

As you ask may know I hate this AI crap from the bottom of my heart but I'm concerned it's already too late. I honestly think it's been happening and some legal thing is now forcing them to disclose it. I've been stressing over how to handle my own studio page. Like horribly stressing to the point of shutting down emotionally. As with all the other GenAI bullsh*t. " The dead Internet theory" may just end up being reality sooner than we think.

That being said, I can wipe my page but that doesn't stop others from sharing horses I've sculpted on their studio pages once they have been painted. Or on sales pages. I'm also concerned if I keep my page and post other artist's sculpts I've painted how that disrespects artists that choose to leave. Not on purpose but because I wasn't aware. I'm sure other artists that stay may have the same concern. I have made the switch on my insta to a personal account because that's a viable option there but not on Facebook. It's a minor thing I feel that may not make a difference honestly. Even if I delete it they don't actually delete the page until after a waiting period. I also don't trust they actually delete the data. I really feel it's just too late once your work is on the Internet you can't take it back. AI wasn't like this when I started my page. So I took no precautions against it. It didn't even occur to me. I was just trying to share my work with the world. My fault for not seeing the future I guess.

Then of course there is the issue of how I will be able to get my work out there. I'm not as well known as some artists but this is my livelihood. I can't afford to loose the traffic and not be seen on the main platform for the model horse community. There is no good answer I feel and no real protection no matter what we do as a group or individually on this platform or any of the other primary ones. No where is safe from this atm until governments put regulations into place. Unfortunately, with this being a new technology it's evolving faster than they can control it even if someone was doing something about it. Just like with the beginning of the Internet.

So in conclusion of all my rambling and emotional crash out I'm staying for now. Until I can get enough website traffic when I can reach enough people via my newsletter. It's a once a month newsletter with studio news, occasionally special sales or sales pieces, commission slots and new resin releases. I do not intend to spam and will not fill you inbox with nonsense. If you haven't already please please sign up for it. Go to (darkequinestudios.com) and scroll to the bottom of the home page. I urge you to do the same for any other artist that you want to follow. It really really helps us all out. Try to shop direct from their websites too. It's much easier for us to avoid AI by giving it as little as possible. I will be posting here for the time being. BUT I will post "teasers" close ups, partial pictures of painted and sculpted models to show my work without giving AI others work or my own in full. I'm going to be working on adding to my website to share to the bulk of it. Full finished commission photos, full pictures of new sculptures etc. Hopefully I can bring traffic to the website to be sustainable.

All I ask is for you all not to give up on us. I understand going to a different website while scrolling is an extra step. I know it takes more time and we are conditioned to the simplicity of this platform but please for the sake of the artists. For the sake of the hobby for the sake of our sanity don't give up on us.

So here is the quick rundown for those who want just the facts.

Fuk AI

*I will be staying on FB and Instagram in a different format. Posting partial photos and "teasers" so you can go to my website to see everything about that post. This goes for finished commissions, new sculptures, sales pieces etc.

*Links will stay but in limited quantity because I'm not paying FB a subscription. They already know my website and I didn't think deleting them now is really going to matter. If it's not me ta scrapping my website it will be Google.

*Please sign up for my to email newsletter. Scroll all the way to the bottom of my website's home page to do so. I have way more followers on here than on my email list. I'd really like to get those numbers up so I can rely on me ta as little as possible in the future.

*Website will be updated with a "What's New" page to showcase newly completed work.

*Sign up for all your favorite artists email if they have it! Or however they are asking to be followed. Support everyone you can away from me ta. Shop direct from their websites too!! Don't give up on us! Please understand this is a difficult time for any artist not just in the hobby.

*Again PLEASE don't feed anything we have made into AI on purpose.

Sorry not sorry for the long post. The worst thing we can do is stay silent. Me ta already pushed the date this goes into effect back to November 20th. The more push back the better.
