Commissions

Books are currently OPEN for November 2025 thru May 2026! This time I am going to be booking via lottery! If you were on the waitlist you have been contacted. To be added to the list please use my contact page or email darkequinestudios@gmail.com to send me your name and info on your project you would like done by October 15th!! Please include the model (including scale), color choice and if you have a reference picture that would be great!

I am unfortunately not accepting OF plastic models customized by other artists at this time. 3D printed model will be decided on a case by case basis.

Prices start at $450 for Traditional scale, $350 for Classics, and $250 for Venti. Prices go up from there depending on color and complexity of markings. I am only taking commissions for venti scale and larger at this time. I require a $100 deposit to hold your commission slot and this will be due within 24 hours if your name is drawn. An invoice will be sent with the total amount and will accept partial payments so you can pay as you like until your model is completed. At that time the remaining balance will be due within 7 days. Prep and return shipping can change and will be adjusted upon completion.

I will be scheduling all the commissions ahead of time per month. You may choose which month but I will be giving first choice in order from who is drawn from the list of names. This way you and I both know what to expect both turn around time and when to expect payment to be due. Your model MUST be here 30 days prior to your scheduled month so I have time to get it prepped and to avoid delays.

Prep work is extra and cost determined at time of completion and added to the total cost. This is a change in policy from before due to some horses taking more time and work that initially thought for the prep work. I have been starting to send out for prep work to Becky Turner of Solstice Studios. An extremely talented well know prep artist! Feel free to look her up on MHTB. I’m very impressed with her work but if you do not wish your horse to be sent out I completely understand and will prep in house. Prep will range from $50 to $125.

I use a combination of acrylic via airbrush, oils, pastels and colored pencils to achieve as much detail and realism as possible.

Re-sculpt and custom work is available, and price will depend on the specific project.
